My Experience, I am an: Certified OBM

My Client Intake status is: Open – I am looking to work with new clients

I’ve been working online since: Coming from an Executive Assistant background with tertiary studies in Management Communications and Public Relations, I started my online business in 2008.

Soon I discovered that as a virtual professional you need to be always up-to-date with your skills and enrolled in many courses which taught me a lot about Internet Marketing, Social Networking, Video Marketing, WordPress websites, etc.

Although I enjoy the “doing” part of the technical tasks required, I often receive positive feedback from clients about brainstorming and action-planning with them. I have to admit brainstorming, big picture thinking and planning a strategy are tasks that I love most.

When I heard that Tina, who was also my trainer in Ecommerce, offered the first OBM training in 2009, I was part of it and loved the training as it gave me the confidence to be involved in clients’ businesses at a higher level.

Why I love working as an OBM: I quickly identify gaps in online strategies and this assists me help clients improve their bottom line. I am skilled at putting the business owner “on stage” while monitoring, analyzing and improving actions for best results behind the scenes.

My Strengths and Areas of Specialty:The role of OBM combines my technical skills and my strategic PR and marketing knowledge, as well as it makes use of my planning and project management skills.

I hold a Graduate Diploma in Public Relations (2003), a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Communications (2007) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (2009) and did a foundation study of three years in business administration.

Due to my studies I have solid research skills and advanced skills in Public Relations that also benefit my Social Media and Internet Marketing strategy planning skills.

Clients like to action plan, get a cohesive brand presence and streamline their marketing strategies with my help. WordPress blog customization to fit the business is one the tasks I often perform, which also means constant review and re-customization for new campaigns, such as adding or leaving salespages, squeezepages to the website.

I keep abreast of new technologies and like to know about new software and platforms that may benefit clients’ businesses. I also believe in utilizing video marketing and adding local marketing campaigns to the mix for maximum effect.

My favorite kind of client to work with is: I like to work with entrepreneurs who trust me to get the work done and refrain from micromanaging. As I’ve worked as an executive assistant for many years in large companies and received excellent references, I know how to take responsibility and run the operations of the business without the business owner needing to be involved in this on a daily basis (once I have been properly introduced and gotten to known to the business).

I know it’s hard for many entrepreneurs to let go of parts of their business operations, but to grow and develop constantly improving high level products, programs, VIP retreats and coaching days for their clients, they simply need to let go of the things that can be taken care of by other qualified people.

This is what the role of the OBM is about and it’s great that business owners are able to trust that the OBM Academy has prepared their certified OBMs to take over reins to let the business owner get on with the “real business” that actually earns them their money and utilizes their core skills.

As the OBM role is not for the “faint hearted”, as Tina Forsyth likes to say, the role of an entrepreneur who wants to grow their business is also not for the “faint hearted” either.

Developing trust in the abilities of online professionals who support the business owners is important, otherwise the whole business stagnates due to inefficiencies and a lack of moving forward with the right tasks.

My Business Goals for this year are….: To mainly focus on supporting high level support of entrepreneurs who are in the process of creating significant growth in their business.
